Like the true first-timers we are, we entirely forgot to photograph opening night (or maybe it was the very good wine from local vineyard Va La that made us forget). But a great time was had by all visitors and we thank all of you who made it after the torrential rains and all of you who sent congrats by email very very much for helping us celebrate opening night.

Two weeks shy of a year ago I tapped in the first entry for The Small White House blog. And oh what larks we had. This time I will be following the one lesson that eventually got beaten into my pumpkin skull about the tyranny of the blog – post as many photographs as possible, don’t think too much (this is not Great Expectations), keep the words few and short.
