The Post Anthropocene Compost started out as traditional compost bin at Street Road as part of Adrian Barron's Heterotopia West. The first iteration, begun in 2019, imagines and initiates the im/possibility of composting materials of our post-Anthropocene age.
We invite you to join us: to do so, (1) from the photos above, pick out an interesting piece of trash that has washed up on the shores of the Rivers 41 and 926, and (2) compose a short text to celebrate it. Email or send this to us and we’ll photograph and archive your contribution with your item, then back into the bin your matter goes. Update, 2021 New valencies attach to the Post-Anthropocene bin as Laura Florence, a participant in our Summer Library Project, renews and extends this ongoing project, renaming the container The Anti-anthropocene bin, and asking, what does it mean to decompose, decay, return to an elemental original form? Visitors are still invited to add to the bins. See here for full details. |
