Libbie Soffer, known for her conceptual mixed media artwork, created an installation for the Little Free Library as both commentary on and contemplation of place, as it relates to books.
You probably know the feeling of being absorbed in a favorite book and being transported: Do you hover above the scene? Are you part of the story or just a witness? Can you feel the storm rolling in? Libbie’s playful and spirited figures, installed amongst the books throughout the library, reference well known tales and also suggest these questions, connecting with the viewer, the book-browser, to make visible the invisible lines that connect readers, to writers, to stories, and to each other.
