Today we visited Philip Edwards, who is helping us find local acorns to get ready for artist Adrian Barron's Penn Oak tree planting at Street Road in November. Philip grew up in this area, and has farmed the land since the 40s/50s. He has what he calls his 'museum' on his farm: he calls it that with a glint in his eye, but it is truly a local museum treasure: an amazing collection of historic farming equipment, the stage doors from nearby Jennersville's erstwhile Sunset Park - the 'Grand Old Opry of the North' (once graced by the likes of Hank Williams Sr and Dolly Parton), numerous Native American arrowheads and artifacts, corn grinders, coffee grinders, and 21 tractors. Another highlight is 35 year old 'Goose', and his two younger friends, who keep company with the barn cat 'Cat', and 85 Red Angus and Hereford cattle. A fine day out. With James, Emily, and Emily W.
