For Saturday's art event, Street Road has collected well over 1000 acorns from our local Londonderry Township and London Grove Meeting Penn Oaks, but for good measure we took a jaunt to Maryland today: (a) because Supervene Forest artist Adrian Barron - visiting from the UK - has a soft spot for Baltimore, and (b) because Delaware artist Carol Maurer insisted we couldn't do an oak tree project without collecting acorns at The Cloisters, with it's 60 acre oak forest, excellently run by her cousin Annie Noel Applegarth. (Big bonus: Annie was also location scout for The Wire - who knew where the hunt for acorns would lead?) Finally, Carole demonstrates the best way to whistle - with an acorn cap. We think Adrian is a little in awe - 'I didn't grow up in Baltimore' sums it up really:
